Optimum October: Discipline + Self-Love

It’s official. The sun has set on September, and we’re entered the last quarter of the year. We’ve come a long way from Fit February and Hot Girl Summer. I don’t know about you guys, but I feel more motivated now than I have all year. There’s something about the end of a season that charges me up. Let’s go! For October, we’re optimizing ourselves.

We’ve had most of the year to make the positive lifestyle changes and form the habits necessary for success. But through it all, we may have made mental health less of a priority– this does not mean that we have neglected ourselves, but we can all use a bit more discipline and self-love, especially as we enter the last leg of the year.

I had almost too much fun, but also made some strides in September– I finally got a new car! This month is really all about buckling down and getting back to myself, in a number of ways. For one, I have started two major health/lifestyle journeys: Invisalign aligners, and perhaps the strongest acne treatment medication on the market, isotretinoin. Less than a week in, and I am already struggling with learning how to talk with the invisible aligners in my mouth for 22 hours out of the day. Regarding the isotretinoin, I have experienced no noticeable side effects yet, but I’m literally and figuratively bracing myself for the next 5-6 months of treatment. Keep me in your prayers, and send me plenty of water.

I’ll be sure to keep you guys updated on my journey.

So let’s jump into this month’s challenges:

  • Write yourself a 3-6 month plan, listing all your goals. Write it down and put it somewhere where you’ll see it every day.
  • Say verbal affirmations every morning. I love to do this in the mirror. I promise after 21 days of doing this, you will have much higher confidence.
  • Give yourself 30 minutes every day to work on your goals. This is critical. Let me give you an example. If my goal is to secure two brand partnerships/content opportunities per month, I may spend 30 minutes prospecting by reaching out to brands via email or Instagram each day. Be smart and do what is realistic with your 30 minutes. Tip: Set a daily alarm on your phone for this session. You’ve got this!

Let’s power through this month and the rest of the year by being a little more disciplined and learning to love ourselves a little bit more.
