Women’s fashion has always romanticized the “little black dress,” neutral animal prints and/or a statement accessory to affirm a look. These elements have been incorporated in spring and fall fashion for decades. However, for my latest look, I deconstructed this dated formula and stitched it back together with something a bit more interesting: the “little denim dress.” I bought this baby last December (close to the end of the season) from Nordstrom Rack for $25, and since then it had been itching for some spring sunlight.
Sunday, on an unsuccessful day drive to Antelope Valley to see the California super bloom of poppies (which my roommate and I are still sad about, by the way), the little denim dress and I ended up in Arthur B. Ripley Desert Woodland State Park experiencing nature in its purest form, with the exception of a perfect manmade park bench that bombed our photos. Sunday was a perfect illustration of me making the best of a situation when things didn’t go as planned. For the first time in a long time, I just took in the breeze (the same cold breeze that kept the beautiful poppies closed) and appreciated the moment. I was present.
