StyleCon 2016 Recap

It was a beauty and style expo, a place to meet and hear from influencers, but mostly, it was a place to shop and discover the latest trends. StyleCon 2016 was an experience that I actually may forget. As a blogger, I was excited to go. I scored a discounted ticket for the November 4th event. This would be a huge networking opportunity, or so I thought.

As I walked into The Hanger at the OC Fair & Event Center, I was expecting a less cramped space. The vendors and pop-up shops were to die for, and there was plenty of swag to be had. With admission came a gift bag full of goodies from the sponsors. The free lipstick from Gállány Cosmetics was easily the best item in the bag. The funky sunglasses from zeroUV were a close second.

The expo itself was interesting. It was more of a shopping event than a networking one. I attended with expectations of connecting with potential partners and collaborators, but the noisy atmosphere made it difficult to have an extended conversation with anyone, let alone, hear the panel of influencers speak. Positioning the DJ booth adjacent to the stage was not a good move, as it made the panelists seem auxiliary to available shopping and the array of beauty bars.

All in all, I’m glad I attended. I discovered some emerging brands, watched my roommate slay the photo booth, got offered a modeling gig, and received plenty of free stuff. It was the perfect opportunity to visit Orange County and sport my new hat. Check out my StyleCon look. The first pose is undoubtedly inspired by Drake.
