Clear Skin Journey: Pure MASKness

You don’t need to go out and get an expensive facial to see stellar skincare results. Masking is a favorite pastime of mine. When it comes to clearing blemishes and restoring my complexion, it has been an especially beneficial step in my skincare regimen. These face masks are basically a girl on a budget’s facial. These masks are quick, relaxing, and they’ll provide you with instant gratification, making it easier to achieve the ultimate glow.

SEPHORA COLLECTION Green Tea Face Mask, $6

This mask is a great choice. It’s inexpensive, easy, and effective. I grab one of these almost every week to absorb all the excess oil from my skin. It is a fiber sheet mask, so it won’t leave a mess. It has a Phantom of the Opera vibe to it, but just bear with its ghostlike appearance for 15 minutes and you’re done. What I love is massaging the leftover product in my skin after I remove the mask. When I do this one, I can skip my serum for the night and just apply moisturizer afterwards. SOLD!

LUSH Cosmetic Warrior Fresh Face Mask, $7.95

LUSH face masks were my go-to treatments when I first began to experience acne breakouts. These, along with the black cleansers from LUSH, helped to rescue my skin when I had no idea where to start. I have used several of the masks, however, one of two that I have found to dramatically improve my breakouts, is Cosmetic Warrior. Made with natural ingredients, such as tea tree oil and garlic, this mask really does take your pimples to the battlefield. Even better, this mask is amazingly gentle on the skin. Unlike most masks that help to tighten pores, this one does not give that intense burning sensation. I have used this mask daily to clear up my breakouts.

If you’re searching for a catch-all mask, then you’ll also want to check out Mask of Magnaminty from LUSH. This one will give you that tingling sensation, so you will feel as if it is really working. This mask has been super effective as a weekly (or sometimes biweekly) treatment to remove all of the dirt and buildup from my skin. It also works as a physical exfoliant to scrub away dead skin to reveal a brighter complexion.

Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask, $62

Most purification masks focus on removing everything bad from the skin. As a result, the skin’s natural moisture barrier is threatened. I recently decided to stray from my typical charcoal masks and add Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask to my regimen, and all I can say is, “wow!” This mask has changed my life, and I’ve only been using it for two weeks. It’s a bit pricey, but totally worth the investment. It can be used as a spot treatment, cleanser or mask. Best of all, you only have to leave it on for 3-5 minutes. The first time I used this mask, I slightly freaked out, because I saw all of my zits calm down. Smaller ones around my nose almost completely disappeared. Larger ones were brought to the surface and the redness and irritation was reduced, making them easier to treat. The next day, I decided to try it as a spot treatment, and I had never seen my acne heal so quickly. Love, love, love!
