You’ve seen your favorite fashion bloggers killing it on Instagram in premium denim. You’ve probably even wanted to recreate their looks until you realized that you’re not a sponsored fashionista, and you are on a budget. Don’t fret. It happens to the most stylish of us; we just can’t seem to get the right jeans at an affordable price. Try your luck at these retailers.
As a former employee, I can vouch for Gap. Throughout all the crazy sales and company changes, good quality denim is something Gap has always mastered. Since the retailer’s 2009 denim collection relaunch, Gap’s jeans have been worn by several celebrities and bloggers. The denim is often compared to premium brands such as Citizens of Humanity. With a price range of $70-90, these blues are well worth the money. You’ll have them for years. Gap is always running promotions. You’ll hardly break the bank if you wait for the next sale.
Urban Outfitters was known for carrying many varying styles and colors of skinny jeans during their resurgence. A true hipster haven, the store is a great destination for trendy denim. UO offers a large selection of washes and fits by its house brand, BDG Jeans. Styles start around $58. The brand also features denim designer collaborations. UO recently introduced a vintage denim-inspired collaboration, Wrangler for UO.
I found my hidden gem on topshop.com. It was a dark, indigo washed pair of flare jeans, and they were on sale for $35, and with little stretch material, they wear like heaven. Ever since that day, a few months ago, I was made a believer. Topshop’s jeans are bomb. They even come in petite and tall sizes! The brand offers so many unique jeans, and prices range from $38-$100, with some specialty and designer styles being more expensive. Check their sale frequently for denim markdowns, and you may win big like I did.
Zara offers some of the most fashion-forward jeans on the market. Prices start around $30. If you’re looking for more than just jeans, Zara also has some pretty dope, denim-friendly separates to complete your look. My favorite is this striped cropped top. It pairs perfectly with mid and high-rise jeans for the season.
To score premium denim at an affordable price, check out Nordstrom Rack. I once got a pair of AG Jeans for $60 there. I recommend signing up to receive emails from Nordstrom Rack, because they often run designer-specific denim promotions online. 7 For All Mankind, Joe’s Jeans, and Current Elliot are just few of many denim brands carried.
