Lessons Not Taught In School

The most important thing in life is learning how to love yourself. We hear that thrown around often, yet so many people don’t fully grasp the concept. When you love yourself, you take care of yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally. When you love yourself, you don’t let people break you down, you don’t look for validation from outside sources, and you definitely don’t accept just any type of treatment from anyone.

When you love yourself, you are kind to others. You don’t feel the need to belittle others in idle efforts to make yourself feel better. When you love yourself, you’re happy for others, because you realize that what is reserved for you is for you, and another person’s fortune is not a threat to your own.

You have high standards, not only for yourself, but also for the people in your life. You understand that rejection, be it from a potential employer, or potential mate, is no indication of your self-worth.

When you love yourself, you realize you must put you first, not in a selfish manner, but in a selfless one.

Putting yourself first should never intentionally hurt someone else.

Lastly, loving yourself means loving God, and knowing that you will get everything you need and want in this world, because you are worthy, and most importantly, you’re willing to work for it.
