Finding the perfect nude lipstick suitable for everyday wear is a taxing process, especially for us light to medium-colored brown skin girls with warm undertones. If we go too pink, our lips will look ashy, and if we go too brown, our lips will match our faces. The goal is to find a shade that is complimentary to our skin tone, without being a pop of color; in short, our nudes have to be believable (no pun intended).
I’ve spent years, and sadly hundred of dollars searching for the perfect nude lippie, and I’m pleased to share that I have finally found it. Drumroll please. When I discovered NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in ‘Slow Ride,’ it was love at first swatch. Everyone is catching on, as this universally flattering shade was old out last time I checked Sephora.com.
Why I Love It
First of all, the color payoff is amazing. This is a highly pigmented shade with a matte finish. Secondly, the formula is to die for; it is super lightweight, and a little bit goes a long way. You can control the color payoff by how much you apply. The first time I wore it, I didn’t even have to dip the applicator a second time, as the product’s liquid-like texture just glides on your lips so easily. Even better, it stayed in place for hours, even after my morning tea and a few snacks. The most compelling reason is obvious: its shade is flattering on brown girls with red undertones (like me), so much so, that it was selfie-worthy on my morning commute.
